DO NOT INHALE SILICON DUST PARTICLES
WEAR APPROVED DUST MASKS
The Tiles & Tiling Industry Association (TTIAA) objective is to alert all those working within the wall and floor tiling Industry about the potential of airborne silicon dust a hazardous dust contained within Ceramic/porcelain, reconstituted or natural stone/tiles. Similarly the typical silica content within cements, certain sands, adhesives & grouts.
Further, Tilers and others should be aware that within the processes of cutting, grinding, abrasion of;
Tiles and/or Fiber Cement, Gyprock, Plaster, Fibrous sheeting, Compressed fiber Cement sheeting products, the arising of hazard dust (Silica) will & does occur.
To prevent Silicosis particles being inhaled by tilers, TTIAA strongly recommends that all tilers and tiling teams undertake a risk assessment on the products used with the process of tiling works. Which would mostly include wall/floor boards & all types of tiles.
TTIAA, strongly advises all those who undertake the installation of tiles which would include the cutting of all the above products at all times should wear and also supply the appropriate breathing apparatus, such as dust masks to co-workers.
It is YOUR CHOICE YOUR HEALTH and should be common practice within you daily working regime; not to do so can bring about serious long term health issues.
